A : The Get Ready classes are free.
Q : What should I bring?
A : Bring a pen or pencil to take notes.
Q : Will I learn First Aid and CPR?
A : No, first Aid / CPR is a separate course that you should take.
Q : Who teaches these classes?
A : In most cases, volunteers from your City/or Town that have been trained by the fire department will lead the classes.
Q : How long are the classes?
A : Classes are approximately 2 hours long.
Q : Will this class prepare me for any disaster?
A : The Get Ready class will give you the information you need to prepare for disaster. You will still need to obtain supplies, store them in one location, develop a family plan and conduct a home safety check.
Q : Can I go to any class in Marin or do I have to go to one in my city?
A : You may go to any class offered in Marin that is convenient for you.
Q : Is this program the same as CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)
A: No, this is a basic disaster preparedness course that provides information on how to prepare for, survive through and recover from disaster for you and your family. If you are interested in a more involved response and would like to help your community, please contact your local fire department for information on your local CERT program and training.
